Consumer drone-maker Parrot is either not messing around with its latest batch of drones — or it's throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. Parrot just announced no less than 13 new models in its smaller, more affordable MiniDrone line, including one that's a first for the company.
That's Parrot's new Hydrofoil model, consisting of a nearly pocket-sized Airborne drone, which can be used on its own or attached to a boat platform that lets it glide on the water (you can see how it works in the video below). As with all of the models, the drone is controlled using a smartphone, and it will be available sometime this summer in two different versions for €169 (or roughly $190).
The rest of the new lineup features more modest upgrades to some of Parrot's existing drones, including a number of land-based Jumping models and a pair of the aforementioned Airborne models. The standouts are a Jumping drone and an Airbone drone — each equipped with LED lights for operation at night.
As Engadget notes, this announcement is focused on customers in Europe, but word about a US release should be coming shortly.
