Twitter has introduced a new feature that organizes real-time conversations together, initially available for Twitter users on twitter.com, and will be rolled out to its mobile apps in the future, according to a blog posted June 8 by Twitter product manager Akarshan Kumar.
Ever since, replies to tweets have normally been posted chronologically and with popular tweets, such as news or live coverages, a bunch of different members' conversations usually makes it a bit challenging to follow a single thread.
With this feature, tracking conversations would be easier. Conversational tweets are now connected by a line, which is similar to an update that grouped together strings of tweets in the timelines of its members last 2013. Only the most notable exchanges about a given Tweet would be highlighted and be placed below that Tweet.
Interestingly, Twitter will be the one to decide which conversation would be on the surface, taking into consideration whether the original account holder has replied. On the other hand, one could simply click the "View other replies" option to expand conversations on a specific Tweet and read other replies similar to the home timeline.
This added feature would definitely create an easier to follow and a more accessible Twitter environment not only for new members but surely for its 302 million active monthly users. The move appears similar to its fellow social media giant Facebook that introduced the threaded conversations back in March 2013.
During that time, the Twitter CEO Dick Costolo identified an ongoing problem of Twitter being too complicated for newcomers as the information network limits tweets to 140 characters or less. He has challenged his team to bridge the gap between the well-versed Twitter users and those people who wants to join the network. Costolo also admitted that Twitter could cooperate with other competitors like Google, and has been conversing regularly with Facebook as well as considering Apple as its mentor.
In addition, Kumar also wrote on the blog that Twitter would be continually researching on how to improve users' overall experience as well as allow better participation in trending conversations about relevant content the site has to offer.
Hopefully, this cool new feature of Twitter would be rolling out very soon to its Twitter apps in both the Android and iOS platforms for better appreciation from its users.
