Although Jason Momoa was probably already pretty excited to be stepping into the shoes of Aquaman for an upcoming DC Comics film, he recently took to social media to express how "stoked" he is that DC chose James Wan to direct the film.
Warner Brothers announced Wan as the director of the Aquaman film yesterday, along with the first official plot summary.
The movie studio also released the film's plot which will start with Aquaman as the reluctant ruler of Atlantis, who finds himself caught between the sea and the surface world, especially when his people decide to revolt against the land-dwellers. Of course, Aquaman serves the entire world, and not just those living under the sea, so he's obviously torn.
"We've been so lucky to have worked with James, first on New Line's The Conjuring and now on their upcoming The Conjuring 2, and are thrilled to have him on board as we continue to expand our DC slate," says Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production for Warner Bros.. "The Aquaman film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James's span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material."
Warner Brothers, though, isn't alone in their excitement at having Wan onboard the Aquaman film. Today, Aquaman star Jason Momoa took to Instagram and let his fans know how "stoked" he is to work with Wan.
Aquaman is set for release sometime in 2018.
