Second 'Star Wars Anthology' Film May Explore The History Of Han Solo And Boba Fett

We may officially know what the first Star Wars Anthology film will be about, but the second? All rumor and speculation at this point. But that's not stopping people from trying to learn anything and everything they can about it.

Unconfirmed rumors have circulated around the web for a while, claiming the movie may involve iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett. A new rumor builds upon that idea with an added plot element: the second Star Wars Anthology film may also focus on Han Solo — in particular, the history between the two characters.

This rumor comes via the people at Schmoes Know, who say the film will take place between Star Wars: Episode III and Episode IV. We see hints of Han and Boba's relationship throughout the original trilogy, as Han is in debt to Jabba the Hutt, who turns to Boba to bring Han in.

When we meet Han in A New Hope, he is already in deep with Jabba and has likely been on Boba's bad side for a while. As we all know, Boba does eventually snag his prize at the end of Empire Strikes Back, with a little (or a lot) of help from Darth Vader. Then Boba dies like a chump in the next movie. Sorry, it's true.

Additional characters rumored to appear in the film are Lando Calrissian (the original owner of the Millennium Falcon), Chewbacca (of course) and other bounty hunters, like the reptilian Bossk, who can briefly be seen in Empire.

This may all turn out to be true, but if it is — who will be directing the project? Director Josh Trank stepped away from the film recently, citing his desire to pursue "original creative opportunities."

This new rumor suggests Jon Favreau or Matthew Vaughn may take over the project. If they do, it will still be a while before we see the results of their labor. The second Star Wars Anthology film is slated for a 2018 release date, after the release of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One and Star Wars Episode VIII. So yeah, it's going to be a while.

It's okay though, because in the meantime, there will be plenty of other Star Wars news to fuss over — like who exactly is Supreme Leader Snoke?

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens will hit theaters on December 18.
