'Star Wars #6' Changes Canon For Han Solo In A Big Way

We knew that Marvel's new Star Wars comic book series would be an entirely new canon for the franchise. However, no one was prepared for the big surprise that Wednesday's release of Star Wars #6 had to offer. And yes, there are major SPOILERS ahead for the issue, in case you couldn't tell.

Star Wars #6 expanded the Star Wars universe, introducing an entirely new character that hasn't been in the movies or the comics up to this point. Han Solo has a wife, and it's not Leia.

You read that right. Star Wars #6 showed us Han's wife Sana Solo for the first time. We actually got a glimpse of her back in Star Wars #4 as she searched for Han on Mos Eisley, clad in a cloak and mask and wielding a gun.

Sana finally tracks Han down at the end of Star Wars #6. However, Han isn't alone. Of course, he's with Leia, with whom Han was romantically involved in the Star Wars film franchise, and they were actually married in the Expanded Universe novels. In Star Wars #6, Leia looks very confused to learn that Han has been married to someone else this whole time, as we all are.

As far as who Sana is beyond her marital status exactly, that still remains a bit of a mystery. Sana does appear on the cover to Star Wars #9 to be released in August, according to HitFix. The solicitation text from the issue says that the woman on the cover that we now know is Sana is a "mysterious woman from Han's past," as reported by ComicBook.com, who also wonders if that means Sana could be an ex-wife of Han's that hasn't really gotten over the break-up. Or maybe she considered him a husband, but the two never officially got married.

We'll just have to wait and see how Sana's story unfolds from here. You're probably going to need some time to recover from your mind being blown anyway.
