HTC turns to former Samsung exec to boost marketing

HTC is not in a good position despite consistently releasing great devices over the past two years. The company continues to be eaten alive by Samsung, but that might change with some Samsung-like marketing genius.

Last year, the HTC One was viewed as the best Android smartphone by several critics, yet HTC failed to deliver where sales are concerned, mainly due to bad marketing and the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4. The same can be said for the HTC One (M8); it is deemed the best Android smartphone of the year, but the same thing might happen again as HTC's marketing is still below par, and the Galaxy S5 is poised to repeat the performance of the Galaxy S4.

To combat this obvious problem, HTC has recruited one of Samsung's prominent former marketing executive who goes by the name, Paul Golden. This is a man who helped made the Galaxy brand a household name across the world, and he will be hoping to do the same thing for HTC products.

"HTC continues to invest in talent and recruitment as part of our broader human resources strategy," Samsung stated.

Seeing what Golden has in store for HTC where marketing is concerned might take some time to come to fruition, since the company hired him just a few weeks ago. Still, both Golden and HTC would be wise to speed things up, as Samsung is showing no signs of slowing down, and the Galaxy line of devices are slowly gaining iPhone like status in the marketplace.

It's going to be a tough job finding the right marketing theme for HTC, but if he pulled it off, the company could eventually find itself back to winning ways.

HTC has been working hard on its marketing theme with ads from big names such as Gary Oldman, best known for his role as Commissioner Gordon in the Nolan Batman films, and Iron Man actor, Robert Downey, Jr.

These ads have failed to earn any points for HTC, but not all is lost. There's still time to bounce back, and we believe HTC is more than capable of finding that winning formula.
