What If 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Was An '80s Grindhouse Movie?

Ask anyone about what movies they've been seeing lately and, chances are, they'll start talking about how awesome Mad Max: Fury Road is. The movie's getting some unbelievable praise, especially for something that isn't a major Marvel movie - which is something that few people predicted back when it was unveiled. It's an amazing action film, largely because it separated itself from the deluge of other copy-paste blockbuster movies out there today.

Of course, it's not as if Fury Road is the only Mad Max movie ever made: the first three films helped define an entire genre back in the day - but that was back in the late '70s and '80s. Comparing Fury Road to its predecessors is almost impossible: they may share similar themes, but the first three movies are incredibly different from the series' latest installment. A lot of that has to do with the thirty-year time gap...but what if Fury Road had hit theaters immediately after the first three films?

Well, thanks to a fan-made trailer, fans don't have to wonder anymore - and if you though Mad Max: Fury Road was insane on its own, just wait until you see it through a grainy, neon-drenched filter:

Is there any way we can get an '80s-style cut of the film on Blu-Ray?

If anything, the '80s-style trailer shows just how much has changed in the last three decades. The synth music, the scratches on the film and the neon-green color grading are things movie-goers haven't seen on the big screen in years...and that's probably not about to change anytime soon. Even so, it's great to catch a glimpse of what Mad Max: Fury Road could have been if it had seen release just after Beyond Thunderdome - let's just hope that it's not another 30 years before fans get to see Max in action again.

While it might not be the overly-saturated, Grindhouse-style version seen in the trailer, you can still catch Mad Max: Fury Road in theaters.
