Walmart currently has the prepaid T-Mobile Microsoft Lumia 435 on sale. The smartphone is priced at $49.88 instead of Microsoft's current price of $70.
Microsoft has found its greatest smartphone success in its lower end and budget-minded Lumia handsets. In July 2014 the company announced that the Lumia 520/521 was its best-selling smartphone, with over 12 million active devices. What made the Lumia 520 and 521 attractive to many consumers was that AT&T and T-Mobile both offered the smartphone as part of their prepaid lineup; it was priced around $100, and didn't require a lengthy contract.
In an attempt to tempt repeat the Lumia 520/521's success, Microsoft launched the Lumia 435. The inexpensive Windows Phone is offered as a prepaid smartphone on T-Mobile's network and Microsoft is currently selling the handset for $70 through its online store. Those looking to pick up the Lumia 435 for a lower price can now do so, thanks to a new deal from Walmart.
Walmart is currently selling the T-Mobile Microsoft Lumia 435 for $49.88. The smartphone also comes with the guarantee of being upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile, when Microsoft releases its new mobile OS later this year.
The T-Mobile Microsoft Lumia 435 features a 4-inch 800 x 480 display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and 1GB of RAM. The handset includes 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via its microSD expansion slot. It has a 2-megapixel rear camera and 0.3-megapixel front facing camera. Its 1560mAh battery will provide up to 20 hours of talk time and 21 days of standby.
