U.S. Cellular confirmed on a post in Twitter that pre-sales of the LG G4 will be available in stores and on the carrier's website beginning on May 29. The company, however, is yet to announce other details such as pricing, actual shipping date or in-store availability.
LG has already commenced sales of its latest flagship in other parts of the world. Beginning next week, the LG G4 is said to hit the U.S. shores and will start becoming available in all major U.S. carriers.
T-Mobile confirmed that its users can get their hands on the G4 on June 2. Two days later, Verizon will also be adding the G4 to its roster of offered devices. Sprint will start having the new LG flagship on June 5. Based on these dates, it is speculated that U.S. Cellular, the fifth largest carrier in the U.S., will also be picking on the phone's availability date to tail closely behind.
The LG touts the new G4 as an incremental upgrade from its older sibling. It is one of the few devices that feature a replaceable battery and an expandable storage. Design-wise, the G4 can be adorned with a number of leather back plates which can come in red, blue, black, yellow, gray and two-texture flavors. Other material options available for the G4 rear cover include Lustrous Gold, Artisan-forged Metallic Gray and Pure Ceramic White with 3D patterns.
While it has been noted that the G4's quad-HD display has been improved, perhaps its biggest upgraded feature is the new 16MP camera. Apart from the all manual shooting mode, it also boasts of a color accurate sensor, laser-assisted focus and f/1.8 aperture.
Other features of the G4 include a new chipset and refined display technology. As previously reported in Tech Times, initial specs of the G4 include 3GB RAM, the latest version of Android Lollipop and the inclusion of a purported stylus that is akin to the S Pen. It is also poised to be the next recipient of the curved screen display with a resolution of 2560 by 1440.
Juno Cho, LG's mobile chief, said that the G4 is "radically different from the older units the company has released."
The LG G4 was formally unveiled on April 28 in a New York event.
