'Batman: Arkham Knight' Gameplay Video Shows Off Character-Switching 'Dual Play'

In Rocksteady's second weekly edition of video podcast Arkham Insider, the team walks us through a major new feature in Batman: Arkham Knight called "Dual Play."

Dual Play, as explained in a recent trailer, introduces Nightwing, Robin and Catwoman as playable characters. But instead of sending them off on solo adventures as past games have done, Arkham Knight brings them in to fight right alongside Batman as partners and allies. The best part? You can switch between Batman and whichever partner he's teamed with as you play.

If you don't have time to watch the video, here's the big takeaway. When you switch from Batman to a partner, the game's A.I. instantly takes over controlling Batman — continuing his part of the fight smoothly, with no lag. And you can go back and forth between them as often as you like. But the really impressive bit is that switching characters won't break your hit streaks. It's little touches like this that illustrate how much thought and care Rocksteady puts into its games.

In an extended gameplay sequence, we get to watch Batman team up with Nightwing, as the player switches between one and the other.

This game just keeps looking better and better every time we see it.

Batman: Arkham Knight is coming June 23 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
