Disney has wasted no time making the most of its purchase of Lucasfilm.
In the midst of all the Star Wars stuff being cooked up — Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One, Star Wars Rebels on TV, video games like Battlefront, Marvel's comics, the novels, endless toys — it's easy to forget that Disney also gained the Indiana Jones franchise in the deal. (It also gained the rights to Willow and Labyrinth, so, you know... Chop-chop, Mickey.)
It's no secret that Disney is interested in reviving Indiana Jones, but with Harrison Ford topping 70, the rumor du jour is that Indy might get rebooted with a younger actor under the fedora. Maybe Chris Pratt.
In the meantime, Disney World in Orlando is expanding its Lucasfilm-based attractions with a brand new bar and restaurant called "Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar." If you're not up on your Indiana Jones lore, Jock Lindsey was the name of Indy's pilot in Raiders of the Lost Ark. He's perhaps better known as the guy that utters the phrase, "...my pet snake Reggie!"
The new bar is stylized to resemble an actual aircraft hangar, but the decor inside will center around all things Indiana Jones. There are ceiling fans designed to look like propeller planes, and there is a "diving bell booth" for dining. Expect vintage travel posters, maps, letters of correspondence and more to adorn the walls to give it that classic Spielbergian vibe.
Even the food and drink sport names like the "Hovito Mojito" (a combo of Barsol Quebranta Pisco, lime juice and syrup) or "Rolling Boulder Meatballs."
Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar is being built in the shopping/eating extravaganza area of the Orlando property known as Downtown Disney, and is scheduled to open this fall. It's expected to seat up to 150 hungry guests.
