Sprint has announced that the new LG G Stylo is now available from Boost Mobile. Sprint will offer the stylus-equipped smartphone beginning in June.
When Steve Jobs unveiled the original iPhone in 2007, during his presentation he joked that users would use a stylus to interact with the device and quickly put that to rest by saying that no one wants a stylus and iPhone users would instead use their fingers and a new Multi-Touch technology to interact with the smartphone.
While Steve Jobs claimed no one wants a stylus, the pointing device has been very popular with tablet users, and Samsung even bucked the trend by developing its much-loved S Pen, which it currently ships with its Galaxy Note smartphone and tablet series. It looks like one of Samsung's main rivals is planning on offering an alternative to the Galaxy Note 4 in the form of the LG G Stylo.
The LG G Stylo has just been officially announced by Sprint and will be available to Boost Mobile customers, Sprint Prepaid and via the carrier's online and retail stores.
"Sprint offers customers so many options to customize their buying experience based on how they want to pay for their device and how they want to use it," said David Owens, Sprint's senior vice president of Product Development. "Boost Mobile, Sprint Prepaid and Sprint offer individuals and families a variety of options to save money on the best smartphones like the LG G Stylo and their monthly service plans."
The LG G Stylo is packing a 5.7-inch HD 1280 by 720 Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a "convenient" stylus pen, 8 megapixel camera, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and a large 3,000 mAh battery that will provide up to 24 hours of talk time.
Boost Mobile is now offering the LG G Stylo through its online retail store and is charging $199.99. It will be available for Sprint Prepaid customers beginning on June 7 and from the carrier on June 12.
