In honor of May the 4th, aka the unofficially official holiday that is Star Wars Day, LEGO has announced a new play set that should send fans into a giddy frenzy.
It's called the "LEGO Star Wars Death Star Final Duel," and it will be available in June. As the title suggests, the set features a buildable version of the Emperor's throne room from the second Death Star, where Luke's climactic fight occurred against Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine himself.
The new set includes some really sweet details that Lego and Star Wars fans will appreciate. A pair of the Emperor's personal "Crimson Guards" are in there, along with some cool lightning bolt attachments for the Emperor (for when he shoots them out of his hands), handcuffs for Luke and a two-level diorama area where you can recreate all the action from that fateful scene.
However, there's one detail in particular that makes this set extra special — particularly if you're a Minifigure collector. For the first time ever, LEGO is releasing a Darth Vader Minifigure with a more accurate helmet that comes in two pieces: the mask and the life support collar.
Remember when Luke removes his father's mask at the end of Return of the Jedi, and the facepiece comes off but the collar remains on? "Just for once ... let me look on you ... with my own eyes," Vader says. There will soon exist a Minifigure that can do this very thing.
Thanks to our friends at LEGO, we're pleased to present these closeups of the new life support collar and separate helmet/mask.
