Whoever is running the Houston Rockets' official Twitter account may have gotten just a little carried away Tuesday night.
OK...a lot carried away. Like really, really carried away.
With the Rockets leading the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of their playoff series, Houston's official Twitter account posted the following tweet, using emojis of a gun and horse to let the Mavs know that the Rockets will soon be putting the Mavs out of their misery.
It was almost like the saying of taking the horse out behind the barn.
The tweet has since been deleted...but thanks to the Internet and the power of a screen shot, there's really no such thing as deleting a controversial tweet.
The Rockets wound up winning the game, 103-94, and ending the Mavs' season, leaving hoop fans and the media alike talking about this tweet.
Upon learning of the tweet, the Mavs took the high road. They weren't happy about it, though.
The second-seeded Rockets, who now await the winner between the No. 3 Los Angeles Clippers and sixth-seeded San Antonio Spurs, caught so much flack for the tweet that they posted an apology a short time later. Ahh...when social media takes things too far. It's amazing how something like this can even overshadow James Harden's 28 points and eight assists, but it kind of did.
