The official T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.0 Lollipop update release is now rolling out to customers on the network. T-Mobile is the last major U.S. carrier to release the update.
We recently reported that the T-Mobile Android 5.0 Lollipop update rollout was imminent, as stated by T-Mobile's Product Manager, Des Smith on April 24, "This just in!!! Technical Acceptance on #Note4 Lollipop software update achieved! Should start to rollout next week! Woot woot!"
T-Mobile hasn't wasted any more time in pushing out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to customers as we can confirm that this morning the update officially began rolling out. Many T-Mobile customers were irate that they had not received the update yet, as they watched all of the other major U.S. carriers release the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to their customers while T-Mobile's update remained in "manufacturer development" on its software update page. More recently, the network moved the update into the carrier-testing phase, but that still didn't placate impatient customers who took to T-Mobile's customer support boards to vent.
"I think this is a very big oversight on T-mobile," complained one user. "We expect to wait for updates ... the whole process needs to be overhauled. Now they push the new S6 and boosting sales for the new phone. The Note 4 buyers are old news, with the Note 5 coming this year. They should test the updates on all potential devices at the same time and roll out the updates at the same time. My husband has the S5 and has had the update for a month now! Here I have a newer device still waiting! T-Mobile dropped the ball on this one."
Now, T-Mobile customers can rejoice as the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update is finally rolling out to their Note 4 devices. As we have reported, many Note 4 owners are having problems and issues with the update since receiving it, so one reason the network may have taken so much time in releasing it may be in order to avoid similar issues. Verizon and AT&T have already released minor Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for the Note 4, presumably to address the flaws.
