Man Bitten By Deadly Cottonmouth Snake After Kissing It

A man is now in critical condition after he attempted to kiss a cottonmouth snake and was bitten in the face. We're not sure what the guy was thinking, but he is lucky to be alive today.

According to a report from Fox 13, Austin Hatfield illegally captured a cottonmouth snake a few days prior to the incident and had kept it in his pillow. His friend, who was on the scene, said Hatfield placed the snake on his chest and made attempts to kiss it, and that is when the creature lunged for his face.

Hatfield's friend, Jason Belcher, said his face began to swell immediately after he got bitten. Belcher said the snake was acting funny, and rightfully so because it was kept caged inside a pillow for days. Chances are, the poor animal had not been fed and just wanted to get out of its prison.

"He ripped it off his face, threw it on the ground and he started swelling up immediately," Belcher said. "It was pretty frightening. We've done a lot of stuff together. This is the one thing that scared me the most."

Chances are, if Hatfield were not brought to Tampa General Hospital's emergency room in time, he would have been a dead man. Cottonmouth snakes are deadly creatures, but as fate would have it, the report says Hatfield is expected to make a full recovery soon.

Still, things might not end well for the crown-prince of stupidity, as he is expected to be charged by authorities for illegally capturing a cottonmouth snake. Due to his injuries and him making a big splash in the media, we believe Hatfield will be released with just a warning.

We should point out that this man has a girlfriend. We wouldn't be surprised if when he recovers from this ordeal, she chose to leave him on the spot. After all, he nearly got himself killed by doing something idiotic. Additionally, to make matters worse, he caught the snake in his girlfriend's backyard.
