Konami Silent Hills PT Will Be Removed From PlayStation Store This Week: Here's Why

The PlayStation Store is preparing to end distribution of Silent Hills' PT (Playable Teaser), and it appears to signal turmoil for the horror game. It's unclear if Silent Hills will ever launch, but what is now certain is that the latest entry in the Silent Hills franchise is undergoing some serious changes.

The "interactive teaser," PT, was well received after its announcement at Gamescom 2014. Fans were thrilled that the game the teaser promoted, Silent Hills, was in the hands of designer and producer Hideo Kojima, director Guillermo Del Toro and actor Norman Reedus.

Well, the dynamic has changed and what is clear now is that Kojima and Del Toro won't be working together on the game. It's not known if one party is leaving or if both are off the project or if the development of the game is still moving forward at all.

During a Q&A session at San Francisco's International Film Festival, Del Toro was quoted as saying the following:

The director and actor could very well be lamenting Kojima's departure from the project. There's still a good chance Konami will continue work on one of its top franchises.

There have been questions surrounding Kojima's relationship with Konami, the studio behind both the Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hills series. Kojima is believed to be staying with Konami up until the studio completed Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Recently, rumors that the legendary writer and producer was fired by Konami have been struck down. Voice actress Donna Burke backed up Konami's claims that Kojima had not been fired, though his departure from the company still appears imminent.

"Konami is correct in that Kojima has not actually been fired," the voice actress stated in a Facebook post. "As I stated previously he and his team are still working hard on getting the game out. My sincere apologies to Konami, Hideo Kojima and the fans for giving the wrong impression."
