Acer Outs Iconia 8 Tablet: Intel Atom Chip, 8-inch IPS Display, And $149 Tag Price

Acer has released a new 8-inch tablet - the Iconia One 8 (B1-820) - which will not burn a hole in your wallet thanks to its attractive $149 price tag.

On Thursday, April 23, Acer introduced its Iconia One 8 at an event in New York. The latest entrant to the mid-size tablet space, the Iconia One 8 packs in advanced touch capabilities.

The new tablet from Acer also features the company's Precision Plus technology, which offers users a "highly accurate touch and writing experience." The display's improved accuracy makes the tablet an ideal companion for those looking to sketch or write on it with the Acer Accurate Stylus accessory, which is optional.

Moreover, thanks to the suite of touch tools, one can manage tasks such as simple gestures and the quick access icon.

The Iconia One 8 sports an 8-inch HD IPS screen that has a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. The display has Zero Air Gap technology. The tablet weighs 335 gms and is quite sleek at 9.5 mm thickness.

The Iconia One 8 houses a quad-core Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.83 Ghz. The tablet comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. The Iconia One 8 will be available in 16GB or 32GB storage options.

For those wondering about the camera capabilities, the Iconia One 8 has a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a basic 0.3-megapixel front-facing snapper. The rear camera, however, offers support for wide angle pictures (88 degrees). The new Acer tablet offers battery support for 8.5 hours.

The tablet will be available in 10 attractive hues and the back has a "textured tartan crisscross pattern" which gives the device a chic "cloth-like aesthetic." Moreover the grip of the tablet is quite good thanks to this feature.

The Acer Iconia One 8 is set to go on sale in the U.S. in July this year and will start at $149. The tablet will hit Europe, the Middle East and Africa earlier than the U.S. and will start retailing in April itself.
