The debut teaser for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was easily one of the most anticipated movie trailers of all time. There was more fanfare for two minutes of footage than there is for some entire movies, and it's easy to see why: the film isn't just the start of the shared DC Cinematic Universe, but the first time two of the most iconic heroes in history will meet (and fight it out) on the big screen.
That being said, few people would ever call such a dark and serious trailer 'cute.' It's clear that director Zack Snyder is going for a more grim tone, and that there's really no room for anything adorable.
That's where the fans come in: if you thought that the Batman v. Superman trailer was a little too dark, then the folks over at FinalFeature have your back.
Stop-motion animation is tough enough already, but building the entire Batman v. Superman trailer with tiny Lego blocks sounds like it'd be a nightmare. Nevertheless, FinalFeature recreated the entire teaser with nothing but Lego and a few special effects:
Considering fans have already gotten three Lego Batman games, maybe it's not all that crazy to think something like this might happen someday. Of course, the darker nature of the movie is set off a bit by the tiny little blocks, so perhaps having plastic versions of Batman and Superman beating the tar out of each other isn't the best choice.
Despite the clash in style, the trailer's extremely well-made: it'd be nearly impossible to recreate some of the shots from the trailer using nothing but Lego, and the team did a fantastic job of adapting the trailer of a big-budget blockbuster into something a bit...smaller.
The real Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2016. There's no word on a release for the Lego version.
