Kevin Durant is a pretty classy guy.
After learning the news about the Oklahoma City Thunder firing head coach Scott Brooks on April 22, KD took to his Instagram account to pen this heartfelt message to his former coach.
Brooks spent seven seasons as the coach of the Thunder, making the playoffs every year except this one.
Most of that had to do with injuries to key players, including Russell Westbrook, Serge Ibaka and Durant.
Still, the NBA is a tough business, and Brooks is just another casualty of the constant coaching carousel around the league.
Take a look at what Durant had to say about the situation:
Pretty nice gesture there, huh? After Durant was selected by the then-Seattle Supersonics with the second overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, Brooks became the franchise's coach in 2008, so in many ways Brooks was the only NBA coach that KD ever knew.
Together, they had plenty of success, highlighted by a trip to the 2012 NBA Finals, three trips to the Western Conference Finals in the past four seasons and Durant's MVP year in 2013-14. Still, though, it has to sting Durant that Brooks gets fired after a season in which he only played 27 games due to injuries. The Thunder (45-37) also missed the playoffs for the first time in the past six seasons.
Still, there is some good news for Brooks. Multiple reports point to him being already considered for the vacant Orlando Magic and Denver Nuggets coaching jobs.
