A new rumor involving a new 12-inch Macbook has been making the rounds in the Far East. The rumored Macbook may be the first of a new line of Mac products with a number of redesigned elements.
Whispers of the new Macbook first surfaced in a Chinese forum called WeiPhone, where a forum member hinted at the existence of a redesigned Macbook currently in the works in Cupertino. While Apple rumors are dime a dozen, the said forum member who started the new rumor may be considered as a slightly more credible source considering the WeiPhone member has leaked real photos regarding new Apple products in the past. News of the Chinese thread was first broken in the west by a site specializing in Apple rumors.
The new Macbook may come with a 12-inch screen, which hasn't been seen in an Apple notebook since the iBook. The Apple notebook will also have a fanless design with a redesigned trackpad. A reader of MacRumors had a good translation of the post on WeiPhone.
- MacBook Air updates are coming soon; MacBook Pro updates won't occur until September.
- He discusses a new 12-inch notebook without fan assembly. It comes with a new trackpad design that doesn't include the mechanical button, as we do on current MacBooks.
- An Apple watch device does exist but still in prototype stage, so its announcement won't come anytime soon.
Apple's current trackpad design has been around for a few years. With new rumored 12-inch Macbook, the mechanical button may finally go the way of the buffalo. When the unibody Macbooks were released, Apple got rid of the separate trackpad button in favor of a cleaner trackpad that served as a large button. With new rumored Macbook however, Apple may finally get rid of the mechanical button all together. However, no details are currently available regarding the size of the trackpad or whether Apple will be using new technologies in the redesigned trackpad.
One of the biggest twists in the rumored Macbook involves the fanless assembly. If proven to be true, the new notebook may be similar to the current crop of iPads. However, the new Macbook will probably run on OSX keeping in line with the company's traditions.
The 12-inch Macbook has now joined the long line of rumored Apple products that may come out in the near future. Apple has also been rumored to be working on an iWatch. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed and even the rumors say that the iWatch is still in the prototyping stages of development.
