Leaked photos and specs of up and coming smartphones are pretty common. However, HTC has raised the bar with the HTC One M8, which is leakier than an old garden hose.
Most leaks involve blurry photos and speculative specs. With HTC's new HTC One M8 however, the leak dishes out the full monty with a 14-minute video explaining almost everything about the new phone. The video, which was posted on YouTube, goes over the details of the new phone, the only problem being that the entire video is spoken in German.
The 14-minute long video provides a sneak peek of the One M8 showing viewers the phone's user interface, form factor, dual lens camera, lock screen and a host of other features. The German narrator also shows off the new Blink Feed feature. Blink Feed is a widget-like function that can be found on one of the One M8's home screens.
Judging by the phone's performance in the video, the UI is pretty snappy and screen transitions are both fast and fluid. The German user who made the video also compared Touchwhiz and HTC's Sense 6.0 UI.
The video also highlights the phone's camera app, which comes with HTC's proprietary ZOE camera mode along with a number of other camera modes. In fact, a significant portion of the video was dedicated to explaining the various features of the One M8's dual lens camera and camera app and the German user shows off a number of photos he has taken. The new HTC phone also comes a few nifty photo editing tricks. The video illustrates how the focal point of a photo can be changed by tapping on the screen. Once a part of the screen is touched, the phone blurs out the other parts of the photo. The focal point can be changed again by tapping on other areas. From the photos shown in the video, the One M8 is a pretty decent shooter, which is apparently able to take advantage of the Ultrapixel dual lens camera.
If the whispers floating around the Android rumor mill are to be believed, the HTC One M8 will be released this coming March 25 as a Verizon exclusive smartphone. With the scale of the leaks involving the HTC One M8 however, HTC may have some trouble building up more hype about the new phone since the element of surprise has been taken out of the equation.
