Yesterday's release of the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit a lot of people right where it hurts: the heart. Many fans of the franchise admitted openly weeping by the end of the video.
However, were any of those emotional responses as good as this one by Matthew McConaughey watching the trailer?
We think not.
Obviously, this isn't real footage of McConaughey watching the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, but a clip from Interstellar making it seem he's watching the trailer. It's seamlessly done, though, and probably pretty indicative of the way we all felt while watching that trailer that hit all the right notes: action, adventure, nostalgia and a final clip that would sell even J.J. Abrams' harshest critic on this film.
Yes, we're talking about that final scene in the trailer where we see Han Solo and Chewbacca, back on the Millennium Falcon, with Solo grinning from ear to ear and saying, "We're home."
We'll admit, we still get weepy, too, as we re-watch that. Probably not as much as McConaughey here, but pretty close. Those attending The Star Wars Celebration event, where the trailer made its debut, also reported that once the trailer was over, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Guaranteed, not a dry eye in the house when these two scruffy nerf herders appeared. #StarWars pic.twitter.com/OZY2n2Pvr9
