Update 1.1.2 is being prepared to be rolled out for massively popular futuristic first-person shooter Destiny, and it is expected to include new features that will further improve the gameplay experience for the title.
Through a post on the official Destiny blog, some new things to watch for in Destiny once the update rolls out is a fix for players who inadvertently dismantle precious gear for whatever reason.
Daniel Hanson, a Destiny user interface engineer, discussed a feature for players to be able to lock down their precious gear, which prevents moments such as players accidentally deleting gear when clearing out items or when the controller falls in the hands of others.
"One recurring story we keep seeing involves Legendary and Exotic gear getting accidentally dismantled by errant pets and over-enthusiastic children," Hanson said, which resulted in the decision to provide players with Item Locking to give protection to their hard-earned precious gear.
For gamers to use the feature that will prevent an item located in the inventory from being dismantled, they will simply have to select the precious gear then clock down on the controller's right thumb stick. The selected item is now locked, and will remain as such until it is unlocked by the user.
Update 1.1.2 will also change the role of ammunition in player vs. player matches in Destiny, with ammunition drops becoming rare and a limit being placed on high-damage weapons.
Kevin Yanes, the designer of the Crucible arenas for Destiny's player vs. player mode, answered through the official blog questions regarding the changes and play tests on the new setup.
According to Yanes, the design team is looking to make Special ammunition rarer in Crucible and solidify the role of Heavy ammunition. Yanes added that by placing a limit on high-damage weapons, the balance of encounters in Crucible should be further improved.
"We believe that making ammo more scarce and important will provide players with more choices and more memorable encounters in Crucible," Yanes said, adding that there will be less spawning of Special ammunition which will take a longer time for players to pick up. In addition, there will be a lower number of crates in Crucible, with bricks being found providing players with less ammunition compared to before.
Yanes also said that heavy ammunition drop team radiuses have been widened, creating more balance within the game as the losing team is given a chance to rally back.
The complete details regarding Update 1.1.2 will be found in the patch notes, which should be released soon. While there is no release date yet given for the update, it was revealed that it was "weeks away" from its release last month.
