'Dying Light' Has April Fools' Day Surprise For Gamers Tomorrow

We all know what tomorrow is: the first day of April, more often known as April Fools' Day. And we know not to believe anything we see, read or hear tomorrow, right?

Techland, the developer behind zombie adventure game Dying Light, has a surprise in store for tomorrow, too, but this prank is a good one and benefits gamers. On April 1, 2015, all Dying Light players will receive boosts in their abilities that basically makes Crane a superhero.

That's right, for 24 hours, you can punch zombies harder, slice through them faster and kick them so high that they fly over buildings.

In a press release, Techland stated that an in-game emergency broadcast urges the survivors of Harran, the game's setting, to use caution when handling Antizizin injections. For those who've played the game, you'll know that Antizin is the drug that keeps the zombie virus spreading throughout the body once someone is bit.

So as of tomorrow, in the game, someone has tampered with the Antizin and the latest batch, although not toxic, comes with "odd side effects" that last 24 hours.

"All undelivered Antizin crates have been destroyed, and we would like to assure the survivors that untainted drops will resume as of April 2nd," says a press release written by Dying Light character Hudson Jerkins, who acts as a spokesperson for the Global Relief Effort (GRE). "We urge all the survivors to use extreme care when exhibiting symptoms of the contaminated Antizin injections."

This public service announcement features a video describing the side effects, including uncontrollable fits of violence, greater strength, muscle tension, and "severely altered motor skills." There's also the "compulsive need to kick stuff."

Techland has also asked players to upload footage of them playing tomorrow to YouTube with the hashtag #BadBatch.

If you haven't yet played Dying Light, you may want to pick up or download a copy of the game. We reviewed it recently and gave it four stars. It's a different kind of zombie adventure, a game we recommend that everyone plays through at least once. And with the bad batch of Antizin added for tomorrow, the game's fun factor goes up ten-fold.
