This Is The Best Ramen Date You Can Have On The Internet

You know what's great? Ramen noodles. You know what's not so great? The three minutes it takes to cook ramen noodles. Ugh. It's the worst.

However, those three minutes just got a little less interminable. Nissin, the Japanese company behind everyone's favorite freeze-dried meal, has created a new promotion to make the time between popping the noodles in the microwave and getting them in your belly fly by.

Just head over to this link, and Japanese actor Takumi Saitoh will appear on your screen in a blue jumpsuit, ready to keep you company during that three-minute countdown to mealtime. You'll also notice that there's a lovely blue sky and fields of green behind him. Was this man doing some farming before he sat down with you? Who knows? The important thing is that you've got his full attention now.

So if you decide to go on a virtual date with Saitoh, what else can you expect? First We Feast has the full three-minute run-down for you, but basically Saitoh first introduces himself saying things like, "Let's wait for your noodles together" in Japanese. Then, there's a really long, awkward period where he just stares at you. I guess you're supposed to talk to him as he pretends to listen intently, just like on a real date!

The fun doesn't end when the three minutes are up. Saitoh will then blow on your noodles to cool them down and creepily watch you as you eat, occasionally saying things like, "It makes me happy to watch you eat those delicious noodles." OK, Saitoh. Simmer down now.

Finally, to commemorate the whole occasion, Saitoh pulls out a selfie stick so you two lovebirds can take a pic to remember this date forever and share the photo with the world on Facebook or Twitter. He even promises that no matter what you look like in the photo, he'll look way goofier than you, a promise he delivers.

Sure, this might be one of the more uncomfortable dates you'll ever go on, but it's better to have loved virtually and exited out of the tab than never to have loved at all, right?
