CW's 'The Flash' Cast: Jesse L. Martin, Rick Cosnett, And Carlos Valdes Perform Cover Of 'Firefly' Theme Song

We've seen a lot of wonderfully geeky things on the Internet, but this video of three actors from The Flash singing the Firefly song is certainly one of the most beautiful things we've heard.

Jesse L. Martin, Carlos Valdes and Rick Cosnett deliver a gospel rendition of "The Ballad of Serenity" that is no amateur affair, though. These guys kick it up a notch with a three-part harmony.

The three actors created the video as a thank you to Joss Whedon, the man who gave us Firefly, after he donated "an outstanding amount" of money to a Kickstarter campaign by Martin.

Martin plans on producing a 10-minute short musical film called The Letter Carrier, which is about a black family in the 1860s hiding from slavery. The project is also a collaboration with Valdes and Cosnett.

Here's the official synopsis from the film's Kickstarter page:

"A mother hides her family from slavery in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The children have grown up with a tale of a man known as The Letter Carrier. As the legend goes, he roams the mountains looking for children to sell as slaves. Painted against this historical backdrop, it is a raw, mysterious, and interpretive fable. Told through a cappella song, using original folk music, spirituals and a score using only natural sounds."

Warning: the following will give you goosebumps and leave you feeling shiny.

Whedon tweeted about his contribution:

With just a few days left to go, The Letter Carrier is close to making its goal of $39,922. It's likely that Whedon's donation will encourage others to also donate and make the project yet another Kickstarter success.

Martin is no stranger to music. He's a Broadway veteran, most often associated with his role in both the stage and film versions of Rent. However, Valdes and Cosnett seem to have good pipes, too.
