Close on the heels of a Windows 10 build with Spartan leaking online, a technical preview of the impending Windows 10 OS from Microsoft has popped up online as well.
The build number for the technical preview, which leaked online on Monday, March 23, is 10014. This is an older WIM file for Windows 10 as the build that Microsoft released on March 18 had the build number 10041.
The Windows 10 technical preview build 10014 has Project Spartan — Microsoft's new Web browser — enabled. However, disappointingly enough, apart from Project Spartan, this technical preview build has little else to offer.
For the unfamiliar, Project Spartan is the default browser in Windows 10. However, it is not clear if it will eventually replace Microsoft's popular Web browser Internet Explorer.
Spartan is not only light-weight, it also has a simple UI. It will be Cortana-enabled and offer note-creation and sharing abilities. It will also have a reading mode.
The leaked build 10014 is unstable and for those considering downloading it, it is advisable to skip it. The build also lacks several core features such as Developer Tools, Inking and Extensions.
According to Tom Hounsell, who develops and runs BuildFeed, a "collaborative Windows build list," this leaked technical preview of Windows 10 seems to be modified.
"Definitely modified, not original like the source on MyDigitalLife claimed. Core's been stripped, the WIM has an internal creation date of yesterday," agreed a forum user on osbetaarchive.net, where the leaked build's download link has been posted.
Microsoft is slated to release the full version of the impending Windows 10 OS "this summer."
"We continue to make great development progress and shared today that Windows 10 will be available this summer in 190 countries and 111 languages," said Terry Myerson, Windows Chief, on March 17.
Microsoft has revealed previously that Windows 7 and Windows 8 users will be eligible for a free upgrade for the initial year after the operating system's release.
If you would like to download the leaked Windows 10 technical preview with Spartan's early version, then tread carefully!
