There's a lot to love about WrestleMania — it is the biggest WWE pay-per-view of the year — but it's not just the matches that make it so special. It's a celebration of all things professional wrestling, and nowhere is that more evident than at the annual WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
Every year, the WWE honors its best, and this year is no different. With less than a week left before the big event, the company has announced its final inductee for the Class of 2015, and it's a big one.
Literally.
WWE just announced that Kevin Nash, also known as Diesel, would be the final inductee for this year's Hall of Fame class. Usually, this sort of thing is announced during one of WWE's broadcasts (and it's almost guaranteed that something will be shown on Raw later tonight), but for Nash's induction, WWE teamed up with Rolling Stone to break the news.
"I've been called just about everything, but this is the first time I'll be called a Hall of Famer. It's nice. It's been a long 25 years, but this business has been great to me. Without wrestling, there's no way I'd be where I am today."
There's no doubt about it: Kevin Nash was one of the reasons the Monday Night Wars exploded like it did. After leaving WCW to sign on with WWF (thanks to Shawn Michaels) in the early '90s, Nash quickly became one of the company's best athletes and biggest draws. Then, after leaving the WWF, Nash was one of the founding members of the nWo, and was at the center of the fabled Monday Night Wars — and all of this happened within a few short years.
He doesn't wrestle much anymore, but Nash was one of the reasons the WWE — and WCW — were such big names back in the '90s, and his induction into the Hall of Fame is the perfect way to honor such a storied career.
The WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony will air March 28 on the WWE Network.
