We've seen the cast of the Attack on Titan live action film in costume, and now we get to see them in action in the first footage of the upcoming anime adaptation.
No, it's not a trailer for the film (sadly). It's just a brief look at what to expect. Destroyed cities? Check. Terrifying Titans preparing to eat helpless humans? Check. Lots of looking up in the sky and screaming? Of course.
The movie footage aired on a Japanese show, and Dobre Namin was kind enough to upload the video to YouTube for your viewing pleasure. Check it out below.
Ughhhhhh. Why is there so much crap on the screen? We can't even see what's happening!
Imagine if the first Avengers: Age of Ultron footage debuted with all this clutter thrown on top of it —people would riot! Oh, well. It will have to do for now. If you can look past the distracting overlay, this is definitely what an Attack on Titan film should look like. From this admittedly small sample, the movie looks visually great. Just look at the colossal titan. He's huge! Also, judging by the colors and shocked facial expressions, it looks like it will do a good job of capturing the horror and helplessness that makes the show so brutal to watch.
If recent web domain registrations mean anything, we might see the Attack on Titan movie come stateside thanks to Sony Pictures USA. The film company recently registered a number of Attack on Titan related domains but inserted a "the" into the title, possibly to make the film's title sound less broken for western audiences. Either that or Sony Pictures USA is looking at doing its own Attack on Titan film.
Attack on Titan stomps into Japanese theaters this August.
