The First 'LEGO Jurassic World' Gameplay Trailer Is Finally Online

For the past several years, LEGO has turned beloved franchises into adorable interactive adventures. What began with Star Wars now includes Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones and the entirety of the DC and Marvel universes.

However, things are a little backwards with LEGO Jurassic World: for the most part, LEGO games are adaptations of existing franchises. With LEGO Jurassic World, the new film hasn't even hit theaters yet.

Not that anyone's really complaining. It's hard to argue about the quality of any of the LEGO games, and, following an adorable teaser trailer, WB Games has finally released an actual gameplay trailer for the game - though it's probably different from what most people would have expected:

You know, for a game that's called LEGO Jurassic World, there wasn't a whole lot of Jurassic World in the trailer. In fact, there wasn't much of anything aside from a LEGO adaptation of the first film.

It's a bit bizarre that Warner Bros. would create a trailer for LEGO Jurassic World - a game that's billed as a collection of the entire franchise - and only show footage from a single piece of it. While the other films in the series aren't nearly as memorable, it'd still be nice to get a glimpse of their LEGO forms. Even the film that inspired the game, the upcoming Jurassic World, fails to catch any screen time. It's not really a bad thing, it's just...weird.

That being said, just about everything else in the trailer is great. The tiny LEGO versions of classic characters and scenes are adorable, and it's clear that the series trademark humor is still intact ("Clever girl..."). It'll be interesting to see how the game handles the more violent aspects of the films (Jurassic Park is arguably the most violent franchise LEGO has ever handled), but as it stands, the game looks like it'll do the series justice.

LEGO Jurassic World is scheduled to hit store shelves in June.
