Google's Nexus Devices are set to receive Android Lollipop 5.1. The Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 are all in various stages of receiving the update
It's no secret that when Google releases a new version of Android, the first devices to receive an update are devices manufactured by Google itself. Now that Android 5.1 Lollipop has been officially announced and released, OTA updates for the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 are becoming available.
While factory images appeared earlier this week for those comfortable with flashing their devices, a staggered OTA rollout is currently underway for Nexus devices. T-Mobile announced that the update is currently being pushed to the Nexus 4, 5 and 7 devices, while Sprint announced that the rollout is underway for the Nexus 6.
Verizon, which recently announced it will be carrying the Nexus 6 beginning today, March 12, has confirmed that the device will be running Android lollipop 5.1 straight out of the box. Verizon's official announcement reads as follows: "Thank you for your patience. The Nexus 6 by Motorola will be available for ordering on the nation's largest and most reliable 4G LTE network starting March 12 online and will be in stores starting March 19. The smartphone will be $249.99 with new two-year activation or $27.08 per month for 24 months with Verizon Edge."

Some of the touted new features of Android Lollipop 5.1 are multiple SIM card support on devices with multiple slots, HD calling between compatible devices running Android 5.1 Lollipop, and device protection, which will lock the phone until the owner signs in with their Google account even in the case of a factory reset.
