The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge haven't even shipped to consumers and a new variant has already been spotted. A smartphone believed to be the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Active with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display is on the way.
Samsung is no stranger to releasing multiple smartphones with varying specs and features as part of a series of handsets. Last year, the company released several variants of its flagship Galaxy S5, which included the Galaxy S5 Active, S5 Sport, S5 LTE-A and S5 Mini. Details of the Galaxy S6 Active have just been leaked, suggesting that Samsung will continue with this trend.
The always reliable @upleaks has taken to Twitter to reveal an unannounced Samsung smartphone with model number SM-G890A, which the tipster claims could be the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. This seems very plausible, considering that AT&T offered both the Galaxy S4 Active and S5 Active. AT&T's Galaxy S5 Active also had a similar model number to the new device, SM-G870A.
To add further fuel to the fire, a smartphone with model number SM-G890A has made an appearance in a User Agent Profile on Samsung's official website. The listing reveals the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will feature a Quad HD display, just like the flagship Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is certainly making the rounds and was just spotted on import-export database site, Zauba. The handset is once again listed by its model number SM-G890A, and unlike the 5.1-inch Quad HD display found on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, this smartphone is listed as having a 5.5-inch screen.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will likely have very similar internal specs to both the S6 and S6 Edge, and like its predecessors, will feature a dust and waterproof case.
When we hear more news about the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, we'll be sure to pass it on.
