Volkswagen Releases More Affordable Entry Level Version Of e-Golf

Volkswagen has just released a new trim for the 2015 e-Golf that will allow buyers to save almost $2,000 from the vehicle's normal price tag but without sacrificing its ability to fill up its charge to almost full in half an hour.

The new 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf's Limited Edition Trim can be purchased for only $34,270 including destination charges, which is less by $1,995 compared to the original retail price of $36,265.

Customers may also choose to lease the new 2015 e-Golf instead of purchasing it, at a cost of $229 per month.

Volkswagen is able to sell the 2015 e-Golf for a much lower price because it implemented a host of cost-cutting measures, beginning with using 16-inch wheels made of steel as opposed to the alloys that are used for the standard 2015 e-Golf.

Another cost-cutting measure implemented by Volkswagen is that the 2015 e-Golf Limited Edition uses halogen headlights, compared to the standard version's LED headlights, which are more expensive. Also, the interiors of the 2015 e-Golf Limited Edition has cloth seats, compared to the leatherette seats that greet the driver and passenger when they climb into the standard 2015 e-Golf.

However, while Volkswagen made adjustments to the vehicle to make it more affordable, the car manufacturer did not compromise the performance of the 2015 e-Golf Limited Edition.

Still included in the Limited Edition trim are many of the standard version's features, such as automatic climate control, keyless entry, a backup camera, electric parking brakes and parking sensors. The electric vehicle also showcases the ability to fill up its charge to 80 percent in just 30 minutes of charging.

The powertrain of the Limited Edition remains similar to the standard 2015 e-Golf, with a 115 horsepower electric motor capable of 199 lb/ft. of torque powered by a 24.2 kWh battery module.

According to estimates released by the EPA, the 2015 e-Golf Limited Edition can run for 83 miles on a single charge and a combined rating of 116 miles per equivalent gallon of gasoline for highway and city driving.

The 2015 e-Golf features three modes of driving so that drivers can save energy, namely normal, eco and eco-plus. The vehicle also has three regenerative braking modes, which the driver can choose from.

The 2015 e-Golf Limited Edition will have a limited availability, however, as the trim will only be sold in select states, namely California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington, D.C.
