Ben & Jerry's ice cream has a reputation for being pretty far out. You can't sell flavors like Half Baked, Cherry Garcia and Phish Food without people thinking your brand is pretty mellow.
So the question on everyone's minds is obviously when the Vermont-based ice cream company is going to churn out some pot-infused frozen treats. Marijuana hasn't been legalized everywhere just yet, but the times, they are a-changin'. Is there any big company that's more appropriate to bring weed into the mainstream than Ben & Jerry's?
It appears as though Ben & Jerry's founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield agree. The two appeared on HuffPost Live recently, and one viewer asked whether or not the pair would be down with making a cannabis edibles flavor.
"Makes sense to me," Cohen said very quickly during the interview. "Combine your pleasures."
Greenfield wasn't so sure, but he didn't completely reject the idea either.
"Ben and I have had previous experiences with substances, and I think legalizing marijuana is a wonderful thing," he said. "It's not my decision. If it were my decision, I'd be doing it, but fortunately we have wiser heads at the company that figure those things out."
Man, suits ruin all of the fun, don't they? Marijuana is currently fully decriminalized only in Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, Washington state and Washington, D.C., but if it becomes legalized throughout the entire United States, a real-live Ben & Jerry's edible is much more likely to become a thing. Until then, you're just going to have to enjoy your weed and your ice cream separately, wherever it's legal to do so, of course.
Check out the full interview below, and start thinking about a punny name for this ice cream flavor.
