Android Wear is taking the wearables world by storm, with more Android Wear-based devices being released every month.
Android Wear, however, has a long way to go before it can accommodate for every kind of wearable device that could be made. Here are five features we want to see from Android Wear.
1. Improved Voice Control
Google is aware that many don't want to use a tiny touch screen to control their device, and has included a number of voice controls in Android Wear.
There could be more done in the way of voice controls, however. Users should be able to do anything using voice that they can do through touch.
Of course, Google will have to be careful to not create a system that mishears people. Often a device will hear the word "Ok, Google" when they weren't said. Precision is very important.
2. 4G Support
LG recently announced the Watch Urbane LTE, boasting a 4G connection. However, in order to create this watch, the company had to ditch Android Wear.
This is because of the fact that Android Wear does not support 4G connectivity. As we advance further and further in technology, it is highly likely that we will see more wearable devices with 4G connectivity. Android Wear, in order to accommodate for this, needs to support 4G.
3. More Consistency
Android Wear has been buggy since it was released. Sometimes it will work perfectly performing a task, and then it will not display information properly while performing the same task.
While it is understandable any software is going to be a little buggy when first released, Android Wear has been out for almost a year.
Google needs to make more of an effort to create a wearable operating system that accommodates for all wearable shapes and sizes, something that it has rather well achieved with smartphones.
4. More Incentives For Developers
Another thing that Android Wear needs is more apps. Google needs to create an ecosystem for Android Wear that is attractive to users because of its diversity and customizability. Users are able to essentially create their own smartphone experience through the apps that they have, however the selection on a smartwatch is a little more limited.
Many apps that run on smartphones have an Android Wear component however it would be beneficial to have apps that are specifically for Android Wear.
5. Better Battery Saving Features
The Achilles heel of the smartwatch is battery life. Android 5.0 was big in the smartphone world, with one of itsbiggest features being impressive battery power.
Similar features should be implemented into Android Wear. Google should focus on including better battery saving features in the next version of Android Wear.
