One of the biggest questions fans have had since CBS announced it will be bringing Supergirl to the network is whether or not Superman will make an appearance on the show. Now we finally have an aswer... sort of.
Dean Cain and Helen Slater have landed guest-starring roles on Supergirl, TVLine reports. And if you know anything about past TV shows and movies, you are freaking out right now. Cain of course starred as Superman in the '90s TV show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman opposite Teri Hatcher's Lois Lane. Slater starred as the titular character in the 1984 Supergirl movie. Both actors have also starred on The WB/CW's pre-Superman drama Smallville with Cain as Dr. Curtis Knox and Slater as Clark's Krypton mom Lara.
There's no details on who these two will be playing on Supergirl. However, we do know that they will be in the pilot episode, so at least we don't have to wait too long to find out.
Supergirl, which has already received a series commitement from CBS, will be an hourlong drama chronicling the adventures of Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El who will arrive on Earth after escaping Krypton's destruction and use her super abilities to fight bad guys and all that good stuff. Melissa Benoist, of Glee and Whiplash fame, was previously announced as the lucky lady who gets to wear the red cape in the title role.
There have been a slew of other casting announcements for Supergirl recently. These include Calista Flockhart as media mogul and Kara's employer Cat Grant, Laura Benanti (Nashville) as Kara's mother Alura Zor-El, Chyler Leigh (Grey's Anatomy) as Kara's foster sister Alexandra "Alex" Danvers, David Harewood (Homeland) as the head of the Department of Extra-Normal Operations Hank Henshaw and Mehcad Brooks (Necessary Roughness) as Jimmy Olsen.
