We still can't get our hands on the highly anticipated Apple Watch. However, we now get a nice look at it.
Apple took out a multi-page advertising spread in the March 2015 issue of Vogue, according to 9to5Mac. The ads are simple and clean featuring the stainless steel, 18-karat rose gold and leather loop versions set against that classic white background we know and love about Apple ads.
What's perhaps even more exciting is that the ad may reveal the actual size of the Apple Watch. So far, Apple has only said that the smartwatch will be available in two case sizes of 38 millimeters and 42 millimeters in height. According to 9to5Mac, indie app developer Carlos Ribas took a photo of the Apple Watch ad with a ruler measuring the watch's width, which you can see below. The watch measures out to about 4 centimeters or 40 millimeters.
However, since Apple hasn't released the complete dimensions of the watch yet, it is unclear if this is actually its actual size.
The fact that this watch comes from Apple automatically differentiates it from the other smartwatches that have come before it. However, the Apple Watch has another important and fascinating distinction. Apple is really trying to brand the Apple Watch as a fashion accessory as much as a wearable tech.
In addition to this ad spread, the Apple Watch made its magazine debut on the cover of the November 2014 issue of Vogue China. It is also featured in the March 2015 issue of SELF on the wrist of cover girl supermodel Candice Swanepoel where its health and fitness functions are highlighted. Apple also held a pop-up shop for the smartwatch during Paris Fashion Week in October. There have even been reports that Apple will set up special booths to sell the smartwatch in high-end department stores in Paris as a way of competing with other luxury wristwatch brands.
Seeing as how some women have been dissatisfied with the smartwatch offerings so far, these efforts definitely give Apple a wrist-up on the competition. We'll just have to wait and see once the Apple Watch is released in April if it is a fashion do or don't.
