Gotham's Most Heinous Unite To Fight Batman In New 'Arkham Knight' Trailer

If you haven't marked June 2nd on your calendar yet, now is the time to do so, as the newest trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight is sure to be an adrenaline rush.

Warner Bros. has just let loose an exciting look at the third (and final) installment of the popular Arkham franchise from developer Rocksteady Games. In it the two-minute video, which you can watch below, Batman goes up against some of his most feared supervillains.

Poison Ivy, Two-Face, The Penguin, The Riddler, and Harley Quinn unite under the banner of The Scarecrow and the mysterious Arkham Knight to finally rid Gotham of the Caped Crusader once and for all. Given the overall darker tone and feel of Arkham Knight, it is no surprise that this game is rated M for Mature, which will be a first for the extremely popular franchise's history.

Rocksteady founder and Arkham Knight game director Sefton Hill mentioned in a recent interview that Warner Bros. did a ratings analysis on the game and concluded that certain scenes would be "likely to cause issues." Hill, after receiving an email from the higher-ups, learned that these mysterious scenes would need to be cut.

In an agreement with DC Comics and Warner Bros., Hill and Rocksteady explained that those scenes were central to the game, and were allowed to keep them. However, it is not entirely clear that the scenes will be shown to the public as they were intended to upon the game's release.

"We're not including gratuitous blood or swearing," Hill added. "We want to deliver a true end with no compromises, and it takes us to some dark places."

Arkham Knight, which was originally slated for release in 2014, will finally see the light of day on June 2nd for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
