Zack Snyder just dropped a bombshell a few hours ago when he released the official image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman. In many ways, it is precisely the type of look we envisioned for the character, and we can't wait to see him in action come 2016.
By looking at the image, the first thing DC fans will realize is how badass Jason Momoa looks as Aquaman. We doubt another actor could pull off such an intimidating look, which is one of the reasons we're happy Warner Bros. went ahead with bringing Momoa into this world in the making.
For those who thought Zack Snyder would have done away with the traditional yellow Aquaman armor, well, that did not happen. While the armor is not fully yellow, there are shades of the yellow mixed with brown and black. Going entirely yellow would likely make the character look less threatening than he does now.
How about the tattoos? Momoa's tribal tattoos fit perfectly with the character and the design of the armor. Chances are Warner Bros. will not have to do much design work on his body to give him that awesome Aquaman look for the big screen.
We've talked about so much, but never touched on the Trident. As we can see, the Trident differs from the ones in the Justice League animated series and the New 52. We say this because the other Tridents came three teeth, while this one comes with five.
It's not an exciting design by any means, and it shouldn't cause fanboys to pick up arms in the streets.
Another thing we should point out is the words on the image. It reads, "Unite The Seven." Chances are Zack Snyder could be talking about the Justice League since there will be seven members. However, he could also be talking about uniting the seven seas, or both, who knows?
Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The early release of what Jason Momoa will look like as the King of the Seven Seas, suggests that he will show up in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it is not yet certain in what manner.
