It's been a 14-year journey to get Powers to jump from the pages of the award-winning comic book to the small screen, but at long last, the show is set to premiere in a matter of days.
March 10, 2015, PlayStation Network will premiere Powers. (PlayStation Plus subscribers will get to watch the entire series for free; there's no word yet on how/if non-subscribers will be able to get it.) Powers is based on the wildly original, smart, profane, twisty-turny comic book series of the same name by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming.
It's the story of homicide detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, non-powered officers in a world dominated by those with superpowers. In this world, the norm for powered people is to be self-involved and seek fame and fortune over heroics and "doing good." Walker and Pilgrim work in the Chicago P.D.'s "Powers Division," an office that investigates Power-related murders. It's gritty, it's unpredictable, and it pulls no punches.
So it's unsurprising that the studio that produced Breaking Bad is responsible for Powers.
Today, Sony has posted a new behind-the-scenes look at the show — the very first for PlayStation Network — that provides a better glimpse at the show than anything seen yet. You'll get insights from the show's stars, including Sharlto Copley, Susan Heyward, Noah Taylor, Eddie Izzard and Michelle Forbes, along with Bendis and Oeming and showrunner Charlie Huston.
The first three episodes of Powers will be on PSN on March 10, followed by new episodes every Tuesday. (Sorry, Netflix binge-watchers.) Sony has not announced how many episodes the first season will consist of, though the current standard for big-budget TV of this nature is around 10 to 13 episodes a season.
