Sprint LG G3 owners can now get a taste of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The carrier just released an OTA update that brings Google's latest and greatest version of Android to the flagship smartphone.
Many current Android smartphone and tablet owners have been patiently waiting to find out if and when their devices will receive an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. We recently reported that Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 devices have already begun receiving the update in regions outside of the U.S., which seems to indicate that U.S. variants of both smartphones should expect to receive the update in the very near future.
Sprint has already started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Samsung's current flagship Galaxy S5 and the carrier has just announced it has released an OTA update for the LG G3. Sprint provides a rundown of the most notable features users will receive with the update on its site.
A rundown of the new features include Android 5.0 Lollipop's Material Design UI, enhanced multitasking, battery life improvements, ability to interact with notifications on the lock screen, and prioritized notifications. LG G3 users will also benefit from having quick access to shortucts like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and battery usage by simply swiping down from the top of the display. There's also an update to Google Mobile Services, which allows users to automatically back up photos and videos taken with the LG G3's camera.
If you own a Sprint LG G3 and want to download and install the OTA Android 5.0 Lollipop software update, open the Settings app on the smartphone, tap System Upgrades, tap Update LG Software, and then tap Check Now, and you should be prompted that there's a software update for your device.
