Fans already know more than a dozen of the fighters slated for Mortal Kombat X, and yet, there's still so much that has yet to be revealed. There's still quite a few spots left on the roster - the only question is, who will fill them? Will the game's focus on new fighters fill out the last few slots, or are there still a few classic Kombatants waiting to be revealed?
New evidence has popped up that seems to support the latter: a video released by one of the game's voice actresses seems to suggest that classic Mortal Kombat fighters Sonya Blade and Jax Briggs will make it into Mortal Kombat X.
Well, no one said it was the English voice actress...
Portuguese actress Pitty is playing the role of Cassie Cage, who happens to be the daughter of Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage (another long-time Mortal Kombat character). At first, it might not seem like much, but when some of the lines in the video are translated, they seem to suggest that both Sonya Blade and Jax will be included in the new game (thanks go out to IGN for the translation).
The first line in question, "Stay away from my mother," is about as obvious as you can get. The line obviously confirms that Sonya will be in the game, though it doesn't necessarily confirm that Sonya will be included as a playable character.
However, footage from the 'Faction War' Mortal Kombat X trailer seems to suggest that Sonya will indeed be playable: while showing off the game's main Faction menu, two different versions appear. One includes a series of characters, including Cassie Cage, while the other features a woman in what appears to be a Special Ops uniform, similar to the one Sonya wore in Mortal Kombat 9.
As it stands, it seems like Sonya Blade will be a playable fighter in Mortal Kombat X, but what about Jax? Seeing as the character's been a part of the series since Mortal Kombat II, it would make sense if he made an appearance, and another line from the video supports this. The line "Are you ok, Uncle Jax? Your joints are cracking," is in reference to the character's metal prosthetic arms - again, it basically confirms that Jax will make some sort of an appearance in Mortal Kombat X.
Whether or not he'll be playable is still up in the air, but eagle-eyed viewers can spot his statue on the Living Tower in the latest trailer. Jax isn't the only one in the tower, either: statues of Cyrax, Rain and Jade also appear alongside several previously announced fighters.
Mortal Kombat X isn't that far away, so it won't be long before fans know the game's final roster. If you're wondering just who has been confirmed as a playable character, head on over to our Mortal Kombat X roster.
It won't be long now: Mortal Kombat X is set for release on April 14.
