'Star Wars: Princess Leia #1' Preview: A Leader Ascends

When it was first announced that Marvel would begin printing Star Wars comics for the first time in over two decades, fans were cautiously optimistic. Everything looked great: the art was on-point, previews of the story looked good - it was one of those situations where everyone wanted the project to succeed, but no one was sure exactly what would happen.

Then, Star Wars #1 hit, and everyone went ballistic. It quickly became one of Marvel's best-selling titles in years, and fans were raving about a genuine return to the Star Wars universe they knew and loved. Now, Marvel is preparing for the same thing all over again, as the publisher is set to release Star Wars: Princess Leia #1 in March.

Before the full issue hits, Marvel has released a preview of the first book in the series. There's no story quite yet, but it will give fans a good idea of how the issue will recap most of Leia's early life in the Rebellion, as well a few of the upcoming title's variant covers.

From Marvel's official press release:

Now, follow Leia's journey in the days following the end of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope as she searches for answers...and for hope. Witness the beginnings of the journey that transforms a princess without a home into one of the greatest leaders in the fight for freedom across the galaxy! It all begins this March, as PRINCESS LEIA #1, the explosive first issue comes to comic shops and digital devices!

Star Wars: Princess Leia #1 is due out on store shelves this March.
