For many, smoking marijuana is not just a leisure activity. It's a lifestyle. For the potheads among us, it might not always be easy to find companions who share your extracurricular interests.
Lucky for them, there is now an app for that. High There! is a new dating app that is basically the Tinder for pot smokers. Legal restrictions against marijuana are slowly being overturned, and that means more and more people will be unafraid to admit their appetite for weed. Now High There! is a place where they can go and do that and find others to share a smoke with.
The app works similarly to Tinder and other dating apps. You simply create a profile, which includes describing your energy level when using cannabis and what you like to do when you indulge in it. High There! will then match you to like-minded marijuana smokers in your area. If you like what you see, you can click "Connect" to get in touch or "Next" to move on to the next pothead.
Of course, one of the problems with connecting with anyone through High There! is whether or not he or she will actually have the energy to get off the couch and meet up with you in person. But at least you know your date will most likely have a voracious appetite and will probably almost always want to grab a bite to eat with you.
Though High There! is mostly a dating app for pot smokers, it can really be used to find companionship of all kinds.
"That cancer patient who needs friends and support, the guy who lands in Denver and does not know where people go to buy great products legally, they can also connect. Just the other day I connected with a dude and talked back and forth for a while about life, weed, and built a friendship," High There!'s CEO Todd Mitchem told Co.EXIST.
High There! is currently only available in states where cannabis is either completely legal or legal for medicinal use. Everyone else will just have to find fellow pot smokers through other dating apps until your state makes some legal changes.
However, finding another dating app won't be hard because if you have other niche interests, apps are increasingly targeting specific kind of audiences. There's candiDate, which connects young voters with people that share similar political views. Or if you're a young professional, you might want to consider joining The League, which is a more exclusive Tinder-like dating app with career-focused users. Or you could give Tastebuds a shot, which connects you to other users that have similar tastes in music as you.
The mobile dating revolution is only beginning. One way or the other, you better get on board.
