It's easy to assume that most people play first-person shooters for the guns. It's the most important aspect of the gameplay, after all - if you want to play a game without guns, there are plenty of other choices. If you're going to play a shooter, it's generally assumed that, at some point, you'll be rockin' a firearm.
For Destiny, half of the fun is finding new guns to try out and upgrade - it's like the Diablo of first-person shooters. That's why, when a group of friends decided to try and take on one of the game's toughest bosses without firing a single bullet, people were intrigued.
You know what's even more impressive? They actually did it - a full team of Guardians actually finished the 'Crota's End' Raid without firing a single shot.
Now, to be clear, this is not a no-kill run: it's impossible to finish off the Raid's final boss without killing him and his minions. What's on display is a no-gun run, meaning that players can use everything but their firearms: melee attacks, Supers, grenades - anything that doesn't involve bullets or lasers coming out of a barrel is fair game.
Even getting through the dreaded Lantern hallway is impressive, but doing it without firing a shot is near impossible. The same goes for building the light bridge, too - even with six people, all communicating and coordinating, surviving through wave after wave of enemies without using your main tool for defense just doesn't seem possible.
What makes it even more impressive is that each player is using the same class. All six Guardians were playing as Titans - most would assume that the self-reviving Warlock would be their first choice, but that clearly wasn't' the case. All of them were playing as the same class, and they still managed to finish off Crota.
Most players are content with just playing the game as is - if you want a tougher challenge, just ramp up the difficulty setting. However, there are some players - such as these six Destiny fans - who take the game, turn it upside down and still manage to conquer it.
You have to hand it to them - most people wouldn't even think to attempt that, let alone actually win...looks like it's time to take on Hard Mode!
