There are only days before we turn over to a new month, and this also marks a different direction for Elon Musk's many responsibilities as the billionaire announced that he will soon spend less time on the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Starting May, Musk will yet again shift his priorities and focus more on attending to matters over at his electric vehicle company, Tesla.
However, this does not mean that Musk is fully leaving behind his unofficial leadership role over at DOGE as he will still attend to DOGE matters for several days a week this May.
Elon Musk to Spend Less Time on DOGE by May
According to a report by The Verge, Musk announced during the latest earnings call for Tesla that he will soon start to spend less time on his role and responsibilities over at DOGE next month. With this, Musk claimed that he would only "spend a day or two" over at DOGE this May so that he could attend to matters over at his electric car company.
Over the past months, Musk has been the center of many controversies and scrutiny for his role over at DOGE, especially with Tesla reportedly facing a significant sales slump due to these controversies.
That being said, Musk's time as a special government employee, where he was appointed as a "special advisor" to President Trump's administration, is also nearing its end as it is only meant to last for 130 days since his appointment.

Musk to Focus Back on Tesla Matters
With this, Musk is now returning his attention and focusing back on Tesla next month because of the aforementioned sales slump. It remains unknown what Musk has in store for Tesla as he slowly leaves behind his responsibilities at DOGE.
It is also known that Tesla investors have since begged Musk to step away from the controversial US government watchdog.
Elon Musk's Work with DOGE
The beginning of President Donald J. Trump's second term also saw the rise of Elon Musk's involvement in government, particularly the Department of Government Efficiency. Alongside this, Musk and DOGE came out with guns blazing at the many US federal agencies and departments, including the US Treasury's federal payment system.
However, there had been many controversies surrounding DOGE, particularly as it claimed to have saved on significant government contracts that it canceled, which was later refuted. Initially DOGE's website claimed in its "Wall of Receipts" that it saved $8 billion on a certain project, but after the internet sleuths looking into it, they discovered that they only saved $8 million.
Musk has been a stand-up leader of DOGE from the get-go and balanced it with his many other executive roles over at X/Twitter, Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and more, but many are still questioning his true role over at the special department.
That being said, Trump previously claimed that DOGE will only last until July, or six months since it was established, with Musk slowly detaching himself from the department starting next month.
