Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses are one of the staple products in the wearable market. These offerings may offer chic styles to the wearers, but their advanced AI-infused technologies are the most prized features for them.
But the technology giant hasn't stopped releasing this kind of smart wearable as Meta has reinvented wearable tech all over again with its new Hypernova smart glasses.
The new breed of smart glasses features an interactive screen for the very first time. However, this comes at a premium price, with estimates suggesting the cost could soar to over $1,000.
Meta's Smart Glasses Evolution: From Simple Camera to Interactive Display
Since their release, Meta's Stories smart glasses have been a huge hit, drawing in users who want to capture social media video on the move. While popular, the glasses have never had one key feature: an interactive screen. Meet the Hypernova, a new range of smart glasses which, according to Bloomberg, will revolutionize the wearable technology market.
Meta is looking to take the user experience to the next level with a display unit, piling up more functionality to these stylish devices.
Meta's new smart glasses will have a display visible only to the wearer's right eye. The monocular method implies that the display will not interfere with the wearer's field of vision, and they will still be able to keep track of their surroundings as they interact with the device.
In contrast to other VR smart glasses that provide a display in each eye, the Hypernova provides a less immersive solution but still retains strong capabilities like media watching, map browsing, and notifications from apps paired with the device, like WhatsApp.
Why Hypernova Smart Glasses Will Sell for More Than $1,000
One of the biggest challenges for Meta with the Hypernova smart glasses will be the cost. Bloomberg said that the glasses might cost between $1,000 to $1,400, which is significantly more than other smart glasses available today.
Presently, most smart glasses capable of VR cost around $500 and include the likes of the Rokid Max and Viture Pro, which have high-resolution displays and fashionable designs but cost less.
A customized Android platform and Qualcomm silicon are also waiting for those who will buy the Hypernova glasses. Furthermore, Meta intends to include a wristband known as "Ceres," which will enable users to control the UI using hand gestures like pinch-to-zoom and wrist rotation. Although this will improve the user experience, it also contributes to the price of the entire package.
