Tesla's Cybertrucks are facing yet another recall over an external panel that may detach from the vehicle while it's moving, presenting dangers and hazards to anyone on the road. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has already announced the recall that involves all sold Cybertrucks in the country to address the issue.
Since its release last year, Tesla's Cybertruck faced great criticism because of the multiple problems that manifested, prompting multiple recalls to fix the many flaws.
New Tesla Cybertruck Recall: Detaching External Panel
The latest Tesla Cybertruck recall that focuses on a nine-feet-long stainless-steel trim piece that is located above the doors, which is called the "cant rail," and is only secured by structural adhesive and fasteners.
According to the report, the Cybertruck's cant rail may face "delamination" from its adhesive joint and separate from the vehicle while the car is in motion. It was revealed that the adhesive may suffer from "embrittlement" and fail to hold it in place.
There was already one incident reported last March 14 where a driver claimed that the said stainless steel trim had become loose. The incident was then reported to the manufacturer via the Tesla app, and the vehicle was later scheduled for a service appointment.
However, on the following day, the piece detached and flew onto the freeway while driver drove at the speed of 75mph.

Which Cybertruck Units Are Affected by the Issue
In the report from the NHTSA, this new recall affects the 2024 or 2025 Cybertrucks manufactured from November 13, 2023, to February 27, 2024. More than 46,096 vehicles may require a fix, but Tesla estimates that around 1% of these may actually be defective.
The company has recently confirmed that they will perform the replacement for free, with the company now in the process of informing customers about the recall.
Tesla Cybertruck and Its Flaws
The unique and unusual design of the Tesla Cybertruck has made the automotive industry skeptical, with many raising questions about its practicality, safety, and more. However, several accidents since it was released only raised the public's concerns about it, including a wild crash in Mississippi where the EV flipped over.
One of the most recurring issues with the Cybertruck is how trims or finishes tend to detach from its placement, with a previous recall focusing on its trunk bed's sail applique trim being removed from its place.
Another concerning issue for the Cybertruck is its accelerator pedal's trim, which can slide off the metal pedal.
By the time 2024 ended, Tesla has already faced multiple complaints about its Cybertruck and a total of seven recalls requested by the NHTSA for the Elon Musk-owned company.
