Google's upcoming midrange smartphone, the Pixel 9a, was set to be released this month and bolster its lineup, but the company's plans is facing a setback because of reported component issues.
The company has recently confirmed this but claims the wait will not be long as the new budget smartphone is coming in April, meaning the delay will only last a few weeks.
Google Pixel 9a Faces Delay Until April
The report from 9to5Google reveals that Google recently shared an official statement claiming that there will be a delay to the supposed launch date of its new budget smartphone, the Pixel 9a. It was revealed by the company that it ran into some unexpected issues with the quality of components and would have to push back the device's availability to April.
That being said, Google did not clarify when exactly in April will the company make the Pixel 9a available. Due to the delay, the company has also canceled the preorders via the Google Store and retailers like Best Buy.
Supposedly, the Pixel 9a would have been available by next week, March 26, according to earlier rumors.

The Pixel 9a Delivers a Redesign
Previously, Google officially announced the latest Pixel 9a midrange smartphone, which offers a feature-packed experience for users with the Tensor G4 chipset, 120Hz refresh rate, 13MP ultrawide and 48MP main camera with AI photography, and more.
It also has been redesigned to include the Pixel 9's flat body and rounded edges, but the camera bar has been removed to give it a more minimalist design.
Is The Pixel 9a Looking More Like an iPhone?
Since the Pixel 9's announcement, it has drawn comparisons to the iPhone for having a flat body with rounded corners.
While it does not have the camera bump that protrudes on its rear, it is still reminiscent of the latest Apple smartphone, the iPhone 16e. However, the Pixel 9a does have ultrawide lens.
Google and the Budget Pixels
Over the past years, Google has been consistent in releasing budget versions of their Pixel lineup, beginning with the Pixel 3a release in 2019.
Since the start of 2025, there have been rumors about Google inching closer to the release of the Pixel 9a, with massive leaks sharing the device's specs and features. These included a 120Hz refresh rate for its display, a dual camera array for the rear, new colors to choose from, a 5,100 mAh battery, and the Tensor G4 chipset that powers the Pixel 9.
